My Skydive For Mind!

I've been desperate to write this blog post from the moment the idea came to mind but didn't want to fully commit to something that was still very much up in the air (no pun intended...). Now that it's all finally set in stone, i can let you guys in on my very exciting/tad nerve racking news! EEEEEP.

On Saturday the 30th of September I will be completing a sponsored SKYDIVE for MIND! Mind are a mental health charity that offer the necessary support and advice to empower anyone who is experiencing any form of mental health problem. They work by making sure that nobody has to face a mental health illness alone - unfortunately, as the demand for services are growing and funds are being drastically cut, this is becoming more and more apparent. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in any given year and it is estimated that only 25% of those people receive the right support.

Statistics taken from the official Mind website:
- During the last parliament, funding for mental health services in England was cut by almost £600 million.
- Around 5,140 people took their own lives in England and Wales in 2013, an average increase of 4% since 2012.
- 50% of people wait over 3 months for talking therapy.
- In one year, over 105,000 people spend time in hospital due to their poor mental health.

Mental health illnesses are real. People are struggling. People are dying. Doctors wouldn't neglect a broken leg or not provide treatment to someone diagnosed with Cancer. So, tell me why is it that so many people who are mentally sick still have to face their illness alone? Physical health is important. Mental health is important. YOU are important. There's no shame in needing help - mind's get poorly too. Change NEEDS to happen and thankfully, Mind are already making some incredible, life changing differences.

I'd really encourage everyone to head over to Mind's website to discover more about the services they provide and where the money that is raised goes to. It's a charity really close to my heart and i'm so excited to be supporting them and giving back! I mean, how difficult can it really be jumping from 10,000 feet in the sky!? ;)
You can find my just giving page HERE. Any donation, however small, would mean so much to me and would be helping a great cause!

Just, thank you. If it wasn't for all the lovely feedback and support I have received since starting this blog, I wouldn't have found the confidence to be able to do something like this. There comes a time when you have to decide whether to be silent or to stand up - may sound super cheddar cheesy but every single one of you who has either made a lovely comment about what I've written or even just taken your time to read a post, have empowered me to rise. No words can express my gratitude.
*sending you a MASSIVE cuddle through your phone/laptop screens*

Lots of love as always,
Beth x
