As I lay in bed writing this week’s blog post, the sun is beaming through my window and the blue skies are making it difficult for me to concentrate on my laptop screen. I know days like these are very rare for those of us living in the UK, but even having a glimpse of the sunshine is making me so giddy for spring/summer already!
I feel like this winter especially has been an extra cold and miserable one…a massive emphasis being on the cold! Is it just my dad that is super stingy when it comes to letting us have the heating on? I know, I know, ‘I should pay the electricity bills’, but come on, when it gets to the point where you actually have to wear a pair of gloves inside, you know you’ve reached desperate times. For the past three months I have lived in nothing but layers of oversized jumpers, my dressing gown and thick, fluffy socks. One thing is for sure, I’ve successfully got my Michelin Man impersonation down to a T!! But ahhh summer…the time of the year where everyone seems to be full of life and moods are instantly lifted! The time of year where it’s acceptable to eat tons of ice cream and get merry during the day on a few too many Pimms! This summer is going to be A M A Z I N G!
Strawberry picking!
When I was younger, it was tradition that every year my dad would take us strawberry picking. The farm wasn’t too far away from my house and you only paid for the strawberries you picked (which never came to that much money because I would have eaten pretty much the whole contents of the basket on the way round) but it was a special treat and always felt like such an adventure! Strawberry picking is a must have for any summer bucket list!
Blog more!
At the moment I'm just posting on a Monday but I'd love to increase this to a few times a week! From starting my blog, I feel like I've found a purpose and something that I can just throw everything into. The future is suddenly exciting and that girl who always felt a little lost, is beginning to find her way again!! Thank you so much to all you lovely people who spend your time reading what I write and giving me such positive feedback. Your support means more to me than you know.
Camping!
Whether it’s glamping in the Lake District or sleeping in a pop up tent in my back garden, I just want a night of camp fires, drinking gin and tonic from the can, star gazing and disposable BBQs! Oh and s’mores, can’t forget the s’mores! Yum!
Seaside getaway!
A night away in a cute B&B with views looking over the sea…doesn't that just sound like the definition of bliss? A morning stroll across the beach, fish and chips for lunch on the peer, building a sandcastle or two, and finally, because a seaside trip just wouldn’t be the same without it… allowing my addictive personality to run loose in the amusements and refusing to leave until I’ve won that toy on the grabbers!
Barcelona!
I visited Barcelona in 2015 and fell in love with the city! There is something about its quirky vibe that is so inviting and made me so eager to return! I remember feeling a little pessimistic about my first visit because I am far from the ‘lover of architecture’ type, but oh my goodness, was I wrong! You can't help but be impressed by Park Güell's beauty and I remember being left speechless when I first saw the Sagrada Familia! It was around February time when I first went so it will be nice to return during summer so I can take full advantage of the beach! There is SO much to see and explore in Barcelona that I feel like I only managed to dip my toes in during my first visit!
Long road trips!
I want to be spontaneous. I want to get in a car, blast out capital throwback and just drive! I don't want to plan out a final destination or book anything...I just want to see where the road takes us, just like a proper adventure!! My best friend has recently bought a convertible so it couldn't be more perfect! This summer I also want to make sure I spend lots of quality time with her. Due to work, family commitments and everything in between, I don't spend as much time with her as I would like to. Last year, I booked last minute flights to join her in Ibiza for a long weekend which was so much fun! Maybe we'll do something similar this summer.....I'm thinking, VEGAS!
Disneyland Paris!
Disneyland is truly my happiest of happy places and I can't wait to return in summer! I am extra excited thanks to my three little companions that get to come along with us this year - my gorgeous two nieces, Grace and Millie and my equally gorgeous nephew, Oliver. I can't wait to see their faces light up when they see their favourite characters and get to experience 'it's a small world' for the very first time!
Go on a bar crawl!
When it comes to bars in my home town of Harrogate, you really are spoilt for choice. If a fancy, overpriced mojito is what you’re after, H'gate is your place! I haven’t been ‘out out’ in what feels like forever so I’m desperate to hit the town again...and what better way to do it than hit all the bars at once! I turn the big 2 1 in May (scary bloomin Mary) and I would like nothing more than to spend the whole day with my favourite people, drinking my favourite cocktails and creating what I know will be my favourite memories to look back on in years to come.
Go to a festival!
For anyone who knows me, know that I'm a bit of a princess when it comes to the maintainace of my hair and nails.... Camping in a muddy field all weekend, not being able to wash my hair and only having access of baby wipes to wash with, quite honestly sounds like my worst nightmare....but BRING IT ON! Like I always say, you gotta go hard or go home! If I'm going to go to a summer festival I want to do it the proper British way (even if that means having to drink vodka and lemonade out of a water bottle and losing all of my class in the process).

I know it feels like a long way off yet, but what are your plans for the summer?
Whatever it is on your bucket list, make sure you go ahead and make it happen!
I hope you all have a great week and are not letting the whole Donald Trump drama bring you down! Just remember, there is so much good going on in the world and the only thing we should be holding on to whilst all this craziness is going on, is how INCREDIBLE it is that when mayhem strikes, we all unite and stand by and support each other...despite being oceans apart. That is where the true power lies!
Lots of love as always,
Beth x
