Not Such A Wild Weekend...

Happy Monday to you all!

I hope you've had a lovely day, setting you up for a good, productive week ahead!
Spring is well on its way now and this has got me super excited for the next few months! I spent this weekend baking hot cross buns, buying daffodils, drinking endless amounts of tea, starting a new book and playing outside with my niece in the sunshine...apart from ageing twenty years in the space of two days (what on earth happened to those wild Saturday nights where I drank endless amounts of GIN!?) I had the best weekend that put me well into the spring spirit!

I didn't leave the house much or do anything mega exciting, yet still had a lovely time that was enriched by family and the comfort of being at home (something that I'm really trying not to take for granted anymore).
I feel recharged now and ready to take on the week, whatever it may bring!

My homemade hot cross buns!

My mum and i started to make these quite late on Friday night. Turns out with all the kneading and waiting for the dough to rise, it's quite the lengthy process! I woke up early on Saturday morning to finish them (feeling like a pro baker) and then of course took an obligatory insta pic to showcase my work! ;) For a first attempt, I'm pretty proud! I used Paul Hollywood's recipe for those who are interested. They taste amazing so definitely worth a go!

On Sunday afternoon, I took myself outside into the sunshine and started to read a book that's been recommended to me so many times. I love the author, Jennifer Niven, so already had high hopes. Even though her books are aimed for teenagers, she writes about such valuable life lessons that I think a lot of us 'adults' could really benefit from reading too! I'm only a few chapters in but loving it already.

My beautiful niece!

Every time i see her she just seems to get bigger and bigger. As much as it saddens me to say, Grace Ava is a now a little young lady and no long a baby that I can cradle until my heart is content (now that she has landed on her feet, she much prefers to run away giggling when I ask for cuddles and kisses). We spent Saturday afternoon dancing, blowing bubbles in the garden, feeding the fish and playing with Peppa Pig toys.

I know that for a lot of us, the weekends can often feel like a juggling act. We desperately try to squeeze in some fun adventures amongst all the house work that needs doing and making sure time is put aside to see family and friends. It's all go go go! More times than not, we return to work/school on Monday feeling even more exhausted and questioning where the past two days have gone. Even though being busy can have its benefits, it's good to take time to enjoy the maybe not so lavish parts of life and be able to smile along with them. We all need a day or two to recharge our batteries because if you're anything like me, when I burn out it aint that pretty! ;) Maybe next weekend, take a good chunk of the day just to be at home and chill out. Don't feel guilty. Don't feel like 'you're wasting time'. Just enjoy, appreciate the moment and BREATHE!

You're doing great and you don't have to go 100 miles an hour to prove that.

Love of love as always,
Beth x
